Whenever I started writing my book called Hard Days, Hard Nights, I thought writing it was a lot of hard work. When I finished the book and formed an agreement with Headline Books to publish it, I thought my work was complete.
Little did I realize that it was just beginning. There is a saying I learned in the business of writing, “when you complete your writing and your book is released, you have now completed 10% of your work
What does that mean? Well it is just like having a band and after you spend all of your time writing, rehearsing, recording and you release your songs, now the work of promoting it begins-and it never ends. You must constantly be promoting your product, whether it’s a record or a book.
To that end, I am now making many appearances at book stores, libraries, music events, and civic group meetings to discuss my book and sign copies. I tell many stories of my concert promotion experiences involving The Beatles, The Stones, Janis Joplin, Sly Stones, Led Zeppelin, the Doors and other acts. At all of these events, my book is available for sale and I’m very happy to sign personal copies for you. I usually bring along life size cutouts of the Beatles, giving you a chance to pose with the Fab Four and take photos.
I’d appreciate you taking the time to attend one of my events. See you soon.
