Congratulations to all the winners of the Pittsburgh Rock N’ Legends Awards! I’m so thrilled that my dear old friend Porky Chedwick (RIP) won in the non-performer category. Porky spun the soundtrack of our lives for over 50 years and opened our minds to new styles and performers that were off-limits on mainstream radio stations back in the day.
And a big congratulations to Lou Christie for winning the award in the Legacy Legend category, and to Donnie Iris for winning the Modern Era Legends honor.
Finally, I want to thank and honor all of the 2015 nominees for all the great music they’ve provided us with since the earliest days of rock: Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners and the Del-Vikings in the Legacy Legends category, and Joe Grushecky, Billy Price and Rusted Root in the Modern Legends section. You’re all winners in my book.
